The characters and filmmakers pick up the pieces of the fantasy-adventure Gurren Lagann after the death of Kamina. Crushed by the loss of his "Bro," Simon finds himself unable to power up the title mecha, let alone fight. But the support of his comrades, especially Princess Nia, leads him back to Kamina's dictum: "Rejecting common sense to make the impossible possible is the Team Gurren Way!" The war against Spiral King Lordgenome climaxes in a spectacular battle at Teppelin, the capitol city-mecha.
